Institutional Information. Governing and management bodies
FIRA DE BARCELONA is a public consortium, with private and autonomous business management, made up of the Generalitat of Catalonia, the Barcelona City Council and the Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Barcelona.
These institutions appoint the members of the General Council chaired by the mayor of Barcelona and approves the general lines of the entity, the budgets and the economic results. The Generalitat and the Chamber of Commerce hold the two vice-presidencies.
At the proposal of the Chamber of Commerce and, in agreement with the other institutions, the Board of Directors is called, made up of seven or nine businessmen, from whom the president is chosen, guides the strategy and supervises the management of the institution. Both the members of the General Council and those of the Board of Directors are unpaid positions.
The Executive Committee, led by the General Director, develops and implements the strategic lines and institutional and business policies of FIRA DE BARCELONA, designs commercial action, coordinates the different services and makes proposals aimed at innovation, expansion, promotion and growth of the institution.

Activity. Fira and its investee companies
The object and function of FIRA is, in its broadest sense, the promotion, development and development of commerce and industry, which constitutes a general economic interest. To achieve this project and function, FIRA organizes its own events and hosts events organized by third parties in the venues it manages, also managing all types of services that they can provide at the fairgrounds. Our income comes exclusively from the activity that constitutes our object or from collaboration agreements or other coordination instruments for the management of the common interest, without, in any case, receiving public or operational aid or subsidies.
FIRA DE BARCELONA is the head of a group of dependent entities and is not required to prepare consolidated accounts as it is exempt from this obligation due to its legal nature.
However, FIRA has prepared the consolidated income statement corresponding to the 2023 financial year, in accordance with the regulatory financial reporting framework that shows a true image of FIRA’s activity.
