International Liver Congress
The Gran Via Exhibition Centre is hosting the world’s most important congress on liver diseases. From 14 to 17 April, the International Liver Congress (ILC), the annual meeting of the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) brings together over 10,000 experts from all over the world.
It features an outstanding congress programme of symposiums, workshops and seminars to reveal the latest research and advances in the prevention, detection and treatment of liver diseases.
Scientists and experts from various fields of the medical and healthcare world will be taking part: hepatology, gastroenterology, internal medicine, cellular biology, transplant surgery, infectious diseases, microbiology, virology, pharmacology, pathology and radiology and imaging.
One of the most common liver diseases is viral hepatitis (types A, B, C, D and E) which affects millions of people worldwide: it causes acute liver disease and the deaths of around 1.4 million people every year.
