After two days of intensive activity, this year's event comes to an end with about 13,900 visitors
Bizbarcelona invites both entrepreneurs and SMEs to address their digital transformation
The eighth Bizbarcelona by Barcelona Activa came to an end this evening at Fira de Barcelona’s Montjuïc venue with the attendance of nearly 13,900 visitors seeking to learn more about the tools, trends and resources for adapting business to the new times and creating companies in an increasingly digitized environment, in which desirable social and sustainable economy projects also have their place. With the leitmotiv of transformation, Bizbarcelona has established itself as the leading event in Catalonia for both entrepreneurs and SMEs, with visitors from the two profiles attending in almost equal numbers.
37.6% of the visitors to Bizbarcelona declared themselves to be entrepreneurs, while an almost identical percentage (37.9%) fell within the scope of SMEs. In this regard, although the overall number of visitors remained similar to those who attended last year’s event, the presence of self-employed workers and companies grew slightly in relative terms.
The initial results include more than 1,500 contacts in the different networking and consultancy activities, more than 1,000 visits to the Biz Digital Experience Area by Sportmas, 19,000 attendees at the talks, more than 280 meetings in the Reempresa area and 2,500 messages on the fair Wall.
As part of its wide range of proposals, Bizbarcelona included a total of 190 talks and 40 networking activities involving nearly 300 speakers. The topics discussed focused on e-commerce, logistics and distribution, digital marketing and social media, digital business, big data and IoT, economic and business transformation, social transformation, financing, exports and new trends.
The show also provided almost a hundred service points for visitors, specific activities centred on exports and financing, the Bizfranquicias area and a stand area with 90 exhibitors.
Agustí Colom, Councillor for Tourism, Trade and Markets on Barcelona City Council, highlights the interest aroused by Bizbarcelona, “which has become the annual meeting point for visualizing the dynamism and plurality of the entrepreneurial ecosystem and business activity in the city while providing new opportunities for entrepreneurship and reinvention and identifying the trends set to influence the development of businesses”.
Similarly, Aleix Planas, Director of Bizbarcelona, is satisfied with how the fair has gone, as well as the role it is assuming as a catalyst of transformation: “in a changing economic, technological and social context such as the one we live in, the business fabric and the thousands of entrepreneurs who are creating their own businesses require spaces for relating to each other like those proposed by Bizbarcelona, so that they can stop and analyse how they are working, find inspiration, discover new resources and possibilities within their scope and establish contacts they can continue to promote economic activity with”.
The Bizbarcelona by Barcelona Activa trade fair is promoted by Barcelona City Council, the Catalan Government, CaixaBank, Barcelona Provincial Council, PIMEC, the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce and the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona and is partnered by 120 entities comprising the BizCommunity.
The next Bizbarcelona by Barcelona Activa will take place in June 2019 at Fira de Barcelona’s Montjuïc venue.
