The automotive industry association and Fira de Barcelona sign a four-year agreement
Anfac and the Automobile Barcelona show renew their alliance until 2027
Automobile Barcelona, the International Motor Show organised by Fira de Barcelona, and the Spanish Association of Car and Truck Manufacturers (Anfac), have signed an agreement to continue to jointly promote Spain’s leading motor show for the next four years. The event is preparing its next edition, which will take place from 11 to 21 May.
The alliance was signed after a meeting between the President of Anfac, Wayne Griffiths, the President of Fira de Barcelona, Pau Relat, the President of the Automobile Barcelona, Enrique Lacalle, as well as the General Managers of Anfac, José López-Tafall, and Fira de Barcelona, Constantí Serrallonga. During the meeting, the support that the show has always shown to the sector was highlighted, as well as the commitment of the institutions to continue working to boost the automotive market with Barcelona as its main showcase.
The President of Automobile Barcelona, Enrique Lacalle, stated that “we would like to thank Anfac for its support to extend the story of joint success it represents for the city and the country, as well as for the industry. There is no better platform to promote the automotive sector than a show that before, now and in the future will continue to bring together industry, brands, institutions, professionals and enthusiasts in an environment full of opportunities for all“.
The General Manager of Anfac, José López-Tafall, stated that “we are going through a key moment in which the transition towards zero-emission mobility is a challenge that automotive brands are already committed to achieving. But it must be a commitment that also involves citizens. For this reason, extending our collaboration with the Fira de Barcelona and continuing to jointly organise the Automobile Show is always an exceptional opportunity to bring the public closer to the new options and zero-emission technologies and to show that change is a reality that we must all move towards together“.
2023, an edition for the new mobility
Automobile Barcelona is already preparing its 42nd edition at Fira de Barcelona’s Montjuïc venue from May 13 to 21. The event will once again bring together major automobile brands to premiere their latest launches, with new mobility and sustainable engines – electric and hybrid vehicles – as the main stars. It will also be a showcase for the latest technologies and trends, such as autonomous driving and connectivity.
The relationship between the Barcelona Motor Show and the automotive sector goes back more than 100 years. Since its first edition in 1919, the Barcelona event has been a key platform for promoting and boosting the industry in Spain and Europe. Throughout its history, the Barcelona Motor Show has witnessed important milestones in the evolution of the industry, from the popularization of the automobile to the introduction of the latest technologies and sustainable motoring systems and a showcase for iconic and emblematic models from various brands.
