Several leading medical centres, together with start-up companies, associations and foundations, will attend HEALTHIO 2018 with the aim of sharing and publicizing the latest technological breakthroughs and applications for doctors and patients currently being applied in the fight against this disease. Fira de Barcelona’s innovation in health event has created a specific itinerary to bring together the key players and developments related to the treatment of different types of cancer.
Organized by Fira de Barcelona, HEALTHIO, set to take place from 16 to 18 October in Hall 8 of the Montjuïc venue, is an innovative arena to exchange knowledge, pilot experiences and commercial proposals in which users will be able to test and experience the most advanced techniques and practices of the health system in person. The offer is divided into three central themes (health and well-being, personalized medicine and chronic diseases and aging), providing 24 itineraries to facilitate the visit.
Thus, the main theme is designed to show the latest advances in cancer treatment has one of the most comprehensive offers. In addition to the involvement of centres such as Vall d’Hebron, Hospital Clínic and Sant Joan de Déu, three start-up companies will participate and present their most innovative proposals. Abeona Health, an app that connects associations, hospitals and researchers which is currently being tested at the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), Celsius 37, which develops web solutions to connect different disease control computer programmes, and Naru Intelligence, specializing in big data solutions for precision medicine.
Similarly, associations such as Helping Cancer, which promotes educational and informative initiatives for patients and relatives, will also attend; as well as Cris Contra el Cáncer, a non-profit foundation that promotes research; and PICAM, an entity that encourages initiatives to prevent cancer and encourage early diagnoses.
The event management team is working on the design of the remaining itineraries of an exhibition that will be jointly attended by, among other institutions, the joint participation of Hospital Clínic with the Vall d’Hebron Hospital, the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital, the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital, the Consorci Sanitari Integral, the Guttmann Institute, the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL) and leading companies in the field, including Roche, Sanitas and Intersystems, as well as numerous start-up companies and patient associations.
In addition to the scheduled talks, HEALTHIO will complement its programme of activities with Health & Bio Team Dating, a speed-dating style event created by Biocat, Banc Sabadell and Catalonia Bio to create teams of scientists and businesspeople.
